Sanding and varnishing an existing wood floor can completely transform a room, it brings alive the natural beauty of the real wood, and is hardwearing, easy to look after, and should last for many years. The flooring can also be stained to a colour of your choice, of which samples can be provided before a final decision is made. I have become expert in mixing stains to ensure a perfect match with any existing wooden flooring.
Gap filling is carried out using a top of the range filler which I can colour to match in with the floor. Gap filling is recommended particularly for a downstairs floor with large gaps due to the draughts that can come up from the foundations.
The final protective finish is achieved using the Bona range, long lasting, top quality professional floor lacquers with differing levels of sheen, matt, satin or gloss to give depth to the colour of the floor with the finishing sheen of your choice. Concrete Hearths
In the years that I have been sanding floors, I have become expert at the removal of old concrete hearths and replacing them with timber, creating an exact colour match so that the new sections of floor look like they have always been there.
Hearth removal involves drilling out of the old concrete, and smoothing the area out with a levelling compound.
