Douglas-Fir Parquet Repair and Restoration in Ashtead, Surrey
Last week I worked in Ashtead, repairing and restoring an old, douglas-fir parquet floor in a hallway. The customer had had some alterations to their downstairs cloakroom, which left a gap between the parquet in the hallway, and the tiles in the cloakroom (pictured).
After initially taking the measurements of one of the parquet blocks, I was able to source some identical, reclaimed douglas-fir blocks to use for the repair. As you can see from the pictures, the additional parquet that I fitted looks like it has always been there!
The sanding was carried out using dust-free, Lagler floor sanding machines, followed by a coat of Bona UX primer and two coats of Bona Traffic varnish, which is extremely hard-wearing and is recommened for hallways, due to the amount of foot-traffic that passes through.
