Engineered Oak Wood Floor Installation in Walton on the Hill, Surrey

Last week I worked in Walton on the Hill, Surrey, installing a dark engineered oak floor in a shop unit, and also in the flat above it. When fitting a wooden floor, I glue it down to the sub-floor, (in this case, pine floorboards), rather than using an underlay, as this makes the floor a lot more solid underfoot. When using an underlay, there is nothing actually holding the individual boards in place, apart from the glue between the joins (known as a ‘floating floor’), and they are therefore a lot more prone to movement underfoot and squeaking.

There were a few tricky bits, including going in under some fireplaces, and having to cover two steps with the flooring, but they all came out very well, and can be seen in the photos below.

The customer purchased the floor from www.ukflooringdirect.co.uk, and had it delivered a few days before I was due to start.
